For those of you who haven’t tried out one of our The Works concerts yet, we’ve got a great event coming up this month at Southbank Centre on 26 March.
We’ll be performing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater (meaning ‘the Mother stood’), a beautiful, melancholic hymn and one of the most powerful, moving pieces written in the 18th century, the introduction described by one French writer as “the most perfect and most touching to have come from the pen of any musician”.
In true The Works style, we’ll be guiding you through the piece, with a complete performance following a Q&A with the artists. Plus, there’ll be music in the bar before the concert together with a chance to meet OAE musicians afterwards.
